Singapore Singer Stephanie Sun

Stephanie Sun is a major Singaporean singer songwriter. She was born in 1978 as the middle child of her family. She has one older sister and one younger sister. She has an interesting educational background that concludes with a degree in marketing. As a young girl she attended Nanyang Primary School, Raffles Girls’ School and St. Margaret’s Secondary School before going on to study at Saint Andre’s Junior College. From there she transferred to Nanyang Technical College where she earned her degree in Marketing. Tourists staying in one of the best hotels in Singapore may have the chance to see her perform if she happens to be there during their stay. If not, they are certain to encounter her music on the radio or in one of the numerous clubs.

Sun’s musical ability was discovered by her music teacher Lee Wei Song at his self-named music school, Lee Wei Song School of Music. It was a wise discovery as this young talented student would grow up to become one of the most famous musical stars Singapore has bred. Sun is more widely known in the Mandarin speaking world by her Mandarin name, Sun Yanzi. This is also the language in which most of her songs are song, although she also sings and records in English.
In her young career Sun has sold over 10,000 million copies of her albums throughout Asia. She has also become one of Asia’s most popular fashion icons and has been referred to as the Kate Moss of Singapore. Taiwan comprises the bulk of her fan population and is also the place where she does most of her recordings and publicity events. She has collaborated with other major performers including the fellow Singaporean Tanya Chua. She sang with Chua on the song Original Point for chua’s album Amphibian. Her most recent collaboration was with Wang Feng, Jane Zhang and Wang Leehom to perform the 2008 Olympic theme song.
