Everything she studied and accomplished throughout grade school, middle school,high school, and during her undergraduate degree, was in her mind’s eye…all leading up to the day that she would apply to enter the program and begin her study of law.  She began preparing for the LSAT exam many months, perhaps even as long as one year, prior to the day she actually went in for the exam.  She applied to the schools of her choice as soon as she discovered which ones those were to be.

The sooner one gets the applications in the better.  Many people may tend to procrastinate, as many people do in different aspects of their lives, but to do so when applying to a law program will most likely prove to be extremely detrimental.  When the dean or the committee of a school receives thousands of applications before midnight of the date they are due, what do you suppose happens?  Their desks become stacked those applications, and the time may not be available to spend going over them…at least not as much time as if one sent in their applications months prior.  Time and attention will be given when there is less stacked up in front of the admissions boards.

In the end the process of getting into law school is a process not unlike simply getting into college in the first place.  Or really, it is no different from any other achievement one wishes to accomplish in one’s lifetime.  The competition is fierce, as is the competition in the regular day to day world, and unless one is willing to give their all, their devotion and their attention and their focus to the study and to the practice of law, one may be disappointed in the outcome.

The effects of the cruelty and the complete disregard for the value of human life, are causing the people of the world to stand up, and to have hope.  For when faced with such devastation that terrorist acts produce, people will join together and become stronger as a result.  I am an American woman, and I just watched President BarackObama’s acceptance speech, and I sit here now with tears in my eyes.

I heard a snippet from a radio talk show previous to watching President Obama on CNN.com, and the host was questioning the reasons the President was bestowed with this award.  He claimed that President Obama has not accomplished anything yet which merits such a prestigious honor.  But I bet to differ.  No that is not right, I do not beg to differ, I demand to differ.  Something happened for the country of the United States and for all of the nations in the world less than a year ago, when Senator Barack Obama became President Barack Obama.

Walking through the streets of my city the following day I noticed that people had a different look in their eyes.  No longer were they filled with dread about the future, but with hope and a sense that a true and just nation had returned.  Personal achievements in one’s lifetime should be honored and recognized.  So too, should it be honored and recognized when the ideas of one man, cause nations to find inspiration and the hope of a better world that could be.  What could be, is just as important, in some ways more so, that what has been.  I honor my President, and I congratulate him.
